ADDICTION THERAPY & RECOVERY
Our focus is on you.
Your comfort... your health and your goals.
Many people suffer from alcoholism and/or drug abuse. At Bayridge, we offer substance abuse counseling which can help you get the problem under control and start focusing on your life goals in a positive and nurturing environment.
Treatment for clients with addictions, whether it be from abuse or actual dependence issues is usually found in a counselors office or in an inpatient facility. The cost of an inpatient facility ranges from $5000 - $40,000 per month. While they can be effective help in desperate situations the cost does not always reflect the degree of success.
When you voluntarily come to your therapist they will become your advocate and agent for care, concern and confidential protector.
Drugs and alcohol are not the problem!
Drugs and alcohol are not the problem. Instead, your relationship to the drug distinguishes recreational use from problematic addiction. Many people who use drugs or alcohol do not have a substance abuse problem. If your drug of choice causes your life to become unmanageable, then it may be a disorder.
Bayridge treatment focuses on helping you understand your relationship to the substance as well as the underlying causes that led to misuse. We work to make your life not only manageable but also fulfilling.
Many struggling with addictions feel ashamed and isolate themselves from any avenues of support including treatment. Our counsellors strive to create a nurturing, non-shaming environment that focuses on strengths rather than weaknesses, in a framework of harm reduction and supportive growth.
At Bayridge Counselling Centres we define recovery as something beyond abstinence and sobriety. It is a change of life style that includes sobriety but also self-awareness, change in behaviours, mindfulness, a self-respecting discipline and developing a life of meaning & purpose. It is an ongoing process of learning and management.
Research has shown that therapy helps:
- Improve the quality of relationships
- Develop self-discipline
- Stop your ‘stinkin thinkin’
- Increase self-worth
- Build purpose and meaning
- Boost mood
- Increase work productivity
- Develop Life Strategies new choices

Changing Your ‘Stinkin Thinkin’
At Bayridge we use the outcome-based methods of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
. The effectiveness of CBT for the treatment of (alcohol, tobacco cocaine, marijuana, opiates) as well as other mental health issues is well documented.
By changing how you think about yourself or your situations will change how you feel. If you change your thoughts and your behaviour, you and I will change. The beautiful part about the therapy that you will receive is that you will very quickly begin to feel the helpless feelings fall from your ‘mindful radar’. You will begin to understand that you are not a helpless victim to your mind. In fact you will learn to sit in the captain seat of your life and begin to take back control over your thoughts, behaviour and even feelings.
